The remaking of The Mash: A Monster Miracle

“The Monster Mash didn’t just capture the monster zeitgeist; it became the song of a generation!” says Frute Brute.

The remaking of The Mash included special appearances from their friends Lucky the Leprechaun, the Trix Rabbit and Travis Barker.

“As I knew would be the case, once we started playing, it was like we had never lost it,” says Count Chocula.

The remake was available on MonsterMashCereal.com and Spotify August through October 2021.

The monsters also came together for a 50^th anniversary limited-edition Monster Mash cereal

This is the first time ever that pieces from all five Monster Cereals were in one bowl!

And to make this Halloween a “Funkoween,” the monsters teamed up with Funko to release three new collaborations:

1. Vinyl SODA products with a limited-edition vinyl figure and collectible disc inside the can-shaped packaging. Count Chocula will be metallic, Boo Berry will glow in the dark and Frute Brute will be flocked. Only 5,000 pieces will be released of each monster.
2. POP! Funko Vinyl Foodies characters.
3. POP! Watches. These are the first Funko Halloween watches ever made!

The history of our monsters

The Monster Cereals debuted in 1971 with the introduction of Count Chocula and Franken Berry.

Inspired by classic horror film characters, they were unlike any other cereal at the time.

Fun fact: Minnesota illustrator and cartoonist George Karn, who drew the original Trix Rabbit in 1959, also sketched the first images of Count Chocula.

The first three Monster Cereals have been in production ever since, now appearing just in time for Halloween.

Frute Brute (formerly Fruit Brute) hit store shelves with the “howlin’-good taste of fruit” in 1974. He was sent back to our cereal vault in 1982.
